Things I’d like to improve upon in 2014

Christmas tree

I’m going to be cliche and go ahead and share some of my New Year’s resolutions with you, although I like to look at them as ongoing goals. 2014 is right around the corner and although I’m not being too hard on myself, there are things that I want to change and improve upon in this new year. I have some short & long term goals that I’d really like to make happen. Many of my short term goals are a means to reaching my long term goals. Continue reading

Friendsgiving and an Old fashioned Green bean casserole

friendsgiving

In my family we like to try out new dishes and we often create unique twists on traditional recipes for Holiday meals. However, we are also suckers for the classics and one classic we ALWAYS, always have at the dinner table every Holiday, no matter what, is my grandmother’s green bean casserole (pictured on the right in between the mac and cheese and brussels sprout salad). Picking out the Christmas tree

Tis’ the season to pick out a Christmas tree! And for us, it’s our first Christmas tree as a married couple. I was so excited for the bonding experience of picking out a tree together, and for getting it all set up in our apartment. However, when we arrived at the farm, I quickly realized that the Christmas tree Matt had envisioned was quite different than the one I had envisioned. What should have been a happy occassion, quickly turned a bit tense as we argued over which tree to get. I felt sorry for the guy helping us. Continue reading

I don’t have children so….

Happy Halloween everyone! I loved seeing all the costumes of the trick or treaters yesterday! I don’t have children, and I’m getting a little too old to go out trick or treating anymore (although if I feel the urge to dress up there is usually a Halloween party going on somewhere I could always crash). But anyway, since I don’t have children and I would feel slightly ridiculous dressing up myself – I came up with the next best thing… Continue reading
