Things I’d like to improve upon in 2014

Christmas tree

I’m going to be cliche and go ahead and share some of my New Year’s resolutions with you, although I like to look at them as ongoing goals. 2014 is right around the corner and although I’m not being too hard on myself, there are things that I want to change and improve upon in this new year. I have some short & long term goals that I’d really like to make happen. Many of my short term goals are a means to reaching my long term goals.

I tried to be specific with my goals. For instance, if my long term goal is to lose weight I asked myself what specifically could I do to make that happen on a weekly basis. Maybe this will make me more likely to actually accomplish these goals. Sometimes it’s hard to be specific but I did my best. Here they are. My resolutions for 2014.

Short term goals:
– Exercise 3 times per week
– Eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day (you should get somewhere between 5 and 13 per day just fyi. I definitely do not always make this quota.)
– Blog 3 times per week
– Read at least 10 new books this year
– Lose 20 pounds
– Visit at least 2 new countries
– Be kinder to Matt on a daily basis (less nagging, more words of encouragement, etc.)
– Read through the bible again
– Write at least 4 times per week in my gratitude journal
– Rest & relax more often
– Attend the Weight Watchers weekly meetings
– Dress better for work
– Get up 15 minutes earlier
– Finish my website (this has been ongoing for at least 6 months. It’s time!)
– Go to New York City more often (I live so close and don’t go in as often as I’d like)
– Give more and serve others (not sure to who but definitely want to increase my giving & volunteering)
– Research and apply to 3 jobs that I think I would like
– Eat smaller portions

Long term goals:
– Lose weight
– Be anxiety/worry free (or at least worry less)
– Increase patience
– Improve my marriage (we have a great marriage but there’s always room for improvement!)
– Be more philanthropic and kinder to others
– Travel frequently
– Increase self acceptance
– Grow closer to God and develop a stronger relationship with Him
– Manage money better
– Find a more fulfilling job
– Be happier and more content

What about you? Is there anything you want to change or improve in this coming year?

I don’t always write mine down either but I find that it does help me to remember them and focus on them better. However, there are a few of these that I’ve already slipped up on.

Great goals! You can totally do it… just tackle one at a time so you don’t feel overwhelmed!
